WORDS INTO DEEDS: BRIDGING THE WORLD AND THE CLASSROOM
Over 15 years students at South Seneca Middle and High School participated in classroom and school-wide programs and presentations designed to expand their understanding of local and regional issues and global arts and cultures. Invited guests included::
23 invited INTERNATIONAL GUESTS from Canada, China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, First Nations (Canada), Ghana, Japan, Nigeria, the Onondaga Nation, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda.
21 singers, dancers, drummers, poets, mimes, and artists.
7 elected officials and community leaders.
20 service group representatives and health/safety services providers.
In many cases these were linked to outreach projects designed and implemented by students. These projects raised $40,000 for international organizations and $28,000 plus over 5 tons of supplies to domestic and local organizations.
